We're seeking your feedback on a redesign of the Hamilton Place car park.

You've told us the present car park design can feel congested, confusing and unsafe, particularly where vehicles and pedestrians interact.

We're proposing changes that will:

  • Improve traffic flow to ease congestion and driver confusion
  • Improve safety to reduce pedestrian and vehicle conflict points

The redesign:

  • Reduces congestion, by removing the roundabout and improving the car park entry and exit.
  • Consolidates car park entry/exit points, creating clearer circulation paths for vehicles.
  • Creates angle parking in front of shops, allowing footpaths to be widened.
  • Increases opportunities for tree planting in the car park to provide more shade.
  • Increases and improves pedestrian crossings, reducing pedestrian and vehicle conflict.

These proposed changes reduce the number of car parking spaces from 257 to 218. While the redesign reduces the number of carparks, it improves safety and traffic flow through the carpark.

How can I have my say?

We are inviting you to provide your feedback on the Hamilton Place car park redesign. You can review our plan for the redesign above. You can also download the draft concept plan and draft landscape plan from our document library.

We need to determine the final layout of the Hamilton Place Car Park redesign.

  • Improvements to increase safety
  • The number and locations of the entries (redesign retains the middle entry at Hamilton Place and the signalised intersection at Stephensons Road)
  • Position of proposed trees, landscaping and furniture
  • The number of carparking spaces
  • Position of pedestrian walkways
  • The entry point to the car park from the signalised intersection at Stephensons Road
  • Whether the project proceeds and the timing of the works
  • Location of the public toilet

Your feedback will be considered to help us finalise the redesign before going to Council for endorsement.

Detailed design and construction will be subject to funding.

You can provide your feedback by completing the online survey by Friday 24 April.

You can also write to the Coordinator Strategic Planning, City of Monash, PO Box 1, Glen Waverley, Victoria 3150 or email strategic.planning@monash.vic.gov.au
