Supports other reserve features

Glen Waverley North Reserve is a district-level reserve with many elements that encourage social and family gatherings: a large playground, half-court basketball / netball area, outdoor fitness facility, barbecues, picnic shelter, seating and tables.

Under the Monash Open Space Strategy 2021, we recommend providing public toilet facilities as a standard in these large district-level reserves because they typically attract families who stay longer.

Under guidelines in the Monash Playground and Playspace Strategy 2025, the facility should also be located within 250m from the playspace.

Improves accessibility

Providing a standalone, unisex DDA-compliant toilet and ambulant toilet allows people of all abilities to visit the reserve and stay longer.

We’re also installing signage with braille and accessible pathways connecting to the building so the facility is easy to find and access.

Fills a gap in service in the area

In 2021, the Monash Public Toilet Strategy identified a shortfall in the availability of public toilets in this area, and recommended installing a standalone facility to address this gap.

Installing a public toilet here will ensure we provide a network of safe, accessible and well-maintained public toilet facilities throughout Monash.
