The Wellington Child and Family Hub, 55 Shaftsbury Drive, Mulgrave, was the first integrated hub constructed by Monash. The integrated design allows families to build relationships with nurses, kindergarten educators, playgroup facilitators, other services, and the community, all under the one roof.

Prior to the construction of the new facility the site housed two separate buildings, the Wellington Preschool, built around 1960, and the Wellington Maternal and Child Health Centre, which operated from a 1930s detached house.

Both venues were ageing and not able to meet the contemporary needs of Monash families.

The Wellington Kindergarten committee, kindergarten educators and the Wellington Kindergarten children contributed to the design and fit out the facility, ensuring that the kindergarten rooms support the continued delivery of a high-quality early year’s programs.
