View Mount Road playspace draft concept plan: feedback report

9 February 2026

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share feedback about the draft concept plan for View Mount Road Reserve’s local playspace.

The feedback report is now available. It summarises what you told us during this stage of consultation and how that feedback will be used for this project.

What you told us

There was overall support for the design. Your top play elements were:

  1. Small trampoline
  2. Multi-play unit with slides
  3. Double swings
  4. Small zipline

Many of you also liked the inclusive play elements and traffic theme, which was originally suggested by a resident in stage 1 of the consultation.

Some concerns were raised about the nearby power lines. To make sure the concept plan meets all safety guidelines, we contacted Ausnet and updated the layout and some equipment features.

Key updates include:

  • Climbing cube with fixed nest hammock changed to a timber climbing unit with banister bars and a separate hammock with timber posts.
  • Timber climbing unit moved further south, away from power lines.
  • Double swings moved further south, away from power lines.

AusNet has now approved the updated layout, and we will progress with refining the design details.

Next steps

We will use your feedback to further refine the design in line with the project’s budget and scope, and in compliance with Ausnet’s safety guidelines.

Funding for the construction of the playspace will be considered in the 2026–27 Council budget.

If funding is approved, we will submit the final design to Ausnet for approval before construction, and share it here on Shape Monash.

Fitness hub works to start

The fitness hub is a standalone project funded through Council’s 2025–26 budget. Works to install it will start in February 2026 and finish by July 2026.
