Have your say on the draft concept plan
We're planning to upgrade the playspace and add a new outdoor fitness hub at View Mount Road Reserve in Wheelers Hill.
We're excited to share the draft concept plan of the playspace that was created based on what we heard from the community earlier this year.
Based on your ideas we've incorporated a traffic theme, musical play features, and a removable bollard where the path connects with the car park for safety. Landscaping and rocks will also provide an extra visual barrier between the playspace area and the car park.
The draft plan also includes:
- Small trampoline
- Multi play unit with slides, climbing nets, steps, interactive play panels, sound creator and xylophone
- Junior play unit for toddler and preschool ages
- Climbing cube with fixed nest hammock
- Double swings
- Small zipline
- Accessible pathways and bench seat
Browse the features on the interactive below, or download a copy from our document library. Let us know your/your family's feedback by Sunday 14 December 2025. We especially welcome the views of any children in your household.

There are powerlines in the reserve that may affect where some play equipment can go as well as the features of some equipment pieces. We will need to submit the final design for approval from AusNet. This might mean some features need to change. If that happens, we’ll keep you updated and share any changes with you.
Please note that images of play equipment are for reference only and may not match the final design. Some items might change depending on budget.
Design guidelines
-
-
Preschool - primary school ages
-
Shorter visits by locals (within 500m)
A playground's classification also determines the budget and scope of the upgrade.
Some features that are not in scope for local playspaces include:
- Public toilets: local playspaces are designed for local residents and shorter stays. District and regional playspaces include public toilets as they attract families who live further away, and typically stay for longer.
- Sand pit: sand and water are limited to regional- or district-level playspaces due to high maintenance levels.
- Shade sails: we aim to make use of existing trees or plan new trees and vegetation to create natural shade.
Next steps
Your/your family's responses will be used to help inform the final design of the playspace, which will be submitted to the electricity authority for approval. Funding to build the playspace will be considered in Council’s 2026/27 annual budget process. We will update the Shape Monash page if funding is successful.
The new fitness equipment will be installed by June 2026, as it has already been funded in this year's annual budget as a standalone construction project.
