Release of information

9 April 2021

The City of Monash has released the Monash Tennis Centre Project Proposal – September 2020 under the Freedom of Information Act 1982. A small amount of confidential information has been withheld. The documents as released are provided here.

The documents reflect the understanding at an early stage of the project. This understanding has matured as Council has engaged with its community and implemented some changes from the feedback received.

The documents also demonstrate that Council’s intention at the time was to consult with the community prior to a formal project announcement. Unfortunately, this was not acceptable to the North East Link Project (NELP) and under the contract with NELP, Council was prevented from actively engaging with the community until after the project was announced by the Minister for Transport on 16 December 2020.

Following the announcement, Council has held several consultation sessions with the community, listened to the feedback and the project has changed from the original proposal.

After investigating and considering 13 options for the site, based on feedback received, Council has determined a preferred option with a 50 metre buffer zone between neighbouring properties and the tennis court layout.
