The Pinewood Child and Family Hub was the second integrated hub constructed by Monash. The integrated design allows families to build relationships with nurses, kindergarten educators, playgroup facilitators, other services, and the community, all under the one roof.

Prior to the construction of the new facility the site housed two separate buildings, the Pinewood Preschool and the Pinewood Maternal and Child Health Centre. Both venues were ageing and not able to meet the contemporary needs of Monash families.

The Pinewood Child and Family Hub was funded, planned, and constructed in response to the Victorian Government’s Best Start Best Life reform, including the extension to the funded kindergarten program for three-year-old children.

The project commenced in March 2022 with the demolition of the existing facilities. Construction of the new single storey facility commenced soon after and was completed in February 2023.

The Pinewood Kindergarten committee, kindergarten educators and the Pinewood Kindergarten children contributed significantly to the design and fit out the facility, ensuring that the kindergarten rooms support the continued delivery of a high-quality early year’s program.
