We’re ready to start pavilion construction

2 May 2024

As part of the delivery of the Mount Waverley Reserve Masterplan, and following the sports ground redevelopment and sports ground lighting works at the reserve, we're about to start building a new two-level sporting pavilion that better accommodates the needs of existing users including the Waverley Blues and Mount Waverley Cricket Club.

The Waverley Blues is a football and netball club based at Mount Waverley Reserve and fields football and netball teams for both male and female players across all age groups. The Mount Waverley Cricket Club was formed in 1906 and has grown to be one of Victoria's largest cricket clubs fielding men's, women's and boys' and girls' teams. Sports participants, members and guests of both clubs will benefit greatly by the expanded facilities.

We'll also be demolishing the existing public toilet block and building a new public toilet to better service the reserve into the future.

The construction tender for the project was awarded to Constructive Group at Council's meeting on Tuesday 30 April.

The development works will include:

  • demolition of the existing pavilion and construction of a new two-level sporting pavilion
  • demolition of the existing public toilet and construction of new public toilet amenities south of the pavilion
  • upgrading of the power supply to the reserve
  • supporting civil infrastructure and landscaping works.

During the pavilion redevelopment, 12 trees will be removed. To offset this loss, we'll plant 30 trees around the future car park and reserve during the landscaping stage of the Masterplan implementation.

Pavilion development works will start in late-May 2024 and are expected to be completed by mid-2025.
