10 September 2025

A large gathering celebrated the official opening of the recently-completed, two-storey sports pavilion at Mount Waverley Reserve, a new home to both the Waverley Blues Football Netball Club and Mount Waverley Cricket Club.

Monash Mayor Cr Paul Klisaris, Dr Carina Garland, MP for Chisholm, and Matt Fregon, MP for Ashwood, unveiled plaques marking major milestones in the delivery of the Mount Waverley Reserve Masterplan.

As well as the new pavilion, completed works at the reserve include:

  • upgrades to the sportsground, with improved lighting and construction of a perimeter pathway
  • a new playspace, with a nature play area and trampoline
  • cricket nets, including six (6) turf and five (5) synthetic wickets
  • a maintenance shed to serve both the Council’s horticulture team and the cricket club
  • a new toilet block.

Work on a new car park for visitors is now underway, with a scheduled completion set for March 2026.

The project budget included a $7m commitment from the Australian Government, $2m from the Victorian Government, $2.2m from Council and $100,000 each from the tenant clubs, AFL and Cricket Victoria.
