Project update
Just in time for Christmas 2021, the new playspace at Carlson Reserve in Clayton is now open. This project is the first stage in the three stage revitalisation project at this reserve and is well-supported by Monash's Playground & Playspaces Strategy (adopted February 2020) and will significantly enhance play and active recreation opportunities for the local community.
The new playspace sees the old and tired playspace renewed with exciting and relevant play pieces including adventure totem poles, rope play, climbing cube, spinner, adventure play tower with tube slides and triple swing. There is a mini outdoor exercise station, water fountain and bench seating to complement the existing BBQ and picnic table.
Landscaping and planting works will be completed at the site early in the new year to ensure adequate maintenance and watering. Works on the stage two of the revitalisation of the reserve, the forecourt project will commence in late February / early March.
Background
Council previously sought ideas and feedback from the local community for a new playspace in Carlson Reserve, Clayton.
Works to upgrade the playspace began in September 2021, with an anticipated completion in December 2021.
To ensure the project can be undertaken safely and efficiently, site fencing has been placed around the works area until the works are completed in December. Access to the remainder of the reserve will remain available.
These works are part of the three-stage revitalisation project for Carlson Reserve.
Please note: the tennis courts will be closed to the public and used as a builder’s compound until the Stage 3 courts upgrade is completed – an expected period of 18 months to two years.
