We are upgrading the sportsground lighting at Carlson Reserve, Clayton by installing new lighting poles with smart LED light fittings across the ovals.

Transitioning to smart LED lighting results in a more sustainable and energy-efficient lighting system. The cutting-edge design technology also enhances the quality of lighting throughout the sportsground, minimising light spill and associated negative effects on the surrounding environment.

Other objectives of this project are to:

  • ensure Council grounds are well maintained and can accommodate the rising rates of community participation
  • enable flexible use of the entire sportsground
  • upgrade ageing infrastructure and comply with relevant standards.

The lighting levels will be set at 100 lux, allowing for night use by soccer clubs and community groups. The lighting design will adhere to the Australian Standard AS4282-2019 to mitigate any spill into neighbouring properties.

Please note, the sportsground lighting will only be operational on the days and hours specified in each tenant club’s usage agreement and will be limited to before 10pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends.

The lighting project is currently in the design phase, and construction timelines are contingent upon future budget allocations.
