Project update

Council is upgrading the public tennis courts at Carlson Reserve, Clayton to create new and improved free public multi-sport hard courts for community use.

The redevelopment of the courts is part of a three-staged project which will revitalise and expand the public open space at Carlson Reserve, to enhance family and social recreation opportunities.

Thank you for your feedback on the new and improved multi-sport hard courts including lighting at Carlson Reserve. Construction began in September 2023 and is currently taking place.

Round 2 Consultation (2022) - lighting

We’re proposing to include four upgraded LED sports lighting towers with lighting levels of 250 lux, positioned at the corners of the court.

There will be a timer on the court lights in the evenings, as there has been with the current tennis courts. Time for the lights will be limited to 11pm on weekdays and 9pm on weekends. The courts will remain a free public facility, with no bookings required.

The lighting will be designed in accordance with the Australian Standard AS4282-2019 to minimise lighting spill into neighbouring properties.

Consultation closed Monday 11 July 2022. Your feedback helped inform our final concept plan and Council’s grant application.
