Project Update

Bayview Avenue

Bayview Avenue carries more than 5000 vehicles a day with 1200 vehicles exceeding the 50km/h speed limit. The number of vehicles travelling 10km/h more than the speed limit is 102 vehicles a day.

In November 2021, and as a follow-up in Feburary 2022, we requested feedback from Bayview Avenue residents on the proposal to install four (4) of these road humps. Correspondence was also sent to owners who do not reside at their property in Bayview Avenue.

A total of 30 responses were received from the 57 properties involved. Of these, 74% agreed, 23% were neutral and 3% disagreed with the proposal.

In light of this overall feedback, we will be proceeding with the proposal of four (4) ‘flat top’ road humps as presented.

We anticipate installation will commence in the second quarter of the 2022/23 financial year.

Stockdale Avenue

Stockdale Avenue has around 3000 vehicles a day and 900 of them exceed the 50km/h urban speed limit.

In November 2021, and as a follow-up in Feburary 2022, we requested feedback from Stockdale Avenue residents on the proposal to install six (6) of these road humps.

A total of 52 responses were received from the 128 properties involved. Of these, 79% agreed, 10% were neutral and 11% disagreed, with some expressing concerns about the locations of road humps proposed.

In light of this overall feedback, we have adjusted the location of some road humps and will be proceeding with the proposal of six (6) ‘flat top’ road humps as presented on the attached plan.

The road humps are located clear of property driveways and we’ll upgrade street lighting, where appropriate, to the new standard energy-saving lanterns.

We anticipate installation will commence in the second quarter of the 2022/23 financial year.

Tell us if road humps should be installed in your street

Residents of Bayview Avenue and Stockdale Avenue, Clayton have raised concerns about the way traffic is using the street. Feedback from all residents of the street will be considered when determining whether Council will proceed with any traffic management treatment.

The modified flat topped road hump

We propose to use 'full width' road humps to control the speed of vehicles and provide a smoother drive while reducing noise. Kerbside parking is not affected.
