Project update (July 2024)

We’re laying down strong foundations for the new facility at Ashwood Memorial Kindergarten in Ashwood, with construction in full swing.

Framing and roof installation is complete, with ongoing brickwork and window installation due to be finished in the coming weeks.

The new Ashwood Memorial Kindergarten will expand from a one-room kindergarten into a two-room facility with functional indoor/outdoor play environments that encourage children's creativity and connection with nature.

The kindergarten has relocated to Parkhill Primary School until the end of the year. The facility is scheduled to re-open for Term 1 2025.

Background

Council is refurbishing and extending the existing Ashwood Memorial Kindergarten and creating an additional 33 place kindergarten room. The refurbishment and extension to the Ashwood Memorial Kindergarten is part of Council’s commitment to the accessibility of early childhood services in Monash.

The Ashwood Memorial Kindergarten currently operates with 30 approved places. The project will add a second kindergarten room (33 licensed places) building into the vacant land next to the kindergarten.
