New public art trail

A brand-new vibrant and colourful public art trail is coming to Oakleigh in 2027.

The trail will bring together Oakleigh's existing public art collection and creative wayfinding with new projections, lightboxes, murals and a major artwork.

This will help bring Oakleigh's creative, cultural and culinary character to life as a unique visitor destination that celebrates the business precinct's strong multicultural identity.

We need to determine the community themes that will inform the murals and major artwork that will feature along the trail.

Key themes that will serve as inspiration for the artists in designing the murals and major artwork.

  • The artist selected
  • Decision on final design
  • Location of the artworks
  • Other elements of the art trail (which includes curated lightboxes and projections)
  • Curatorial Objectives based on Multicultural Business Precinct Revitalisation Program grant requirements.

Council will invite established and emerging artists who live in Monash to submit an expression of interest to develop the murals and major artwork.

Community themes will be provided to artists as part of this process, to be used as inspiration during the creative development of murals and the major artwork.
