We're about to start work on a new playspace at Orchard Street Reserve in Glen Waverley.

We previously asked for your ideas on the upgrade design and shared a draft concept plan for your feedback. Thank you to everyone who contributed your thoughts on the project.

The upgrade works are scheduled from February to May 2025.

We're removing the current playspace and installing new play equipment, park furniture and accessible path.

Please refer to the final concept plan below to see what play elements and recreational infrastructure will feature in this new playspace.

The current playspace will be closed during works. There may be minor traffic disruption during the day when supplies are being delivered.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during these works.

Orchard Street Reserve playspace is classified as 'local', which means it caters for residents within 500 metres and is guided by the following:

• Combination of 5 to 8 items of play equipment for younger age groups up to primary school age
• Equipment designs that offer high-level of play opportunity are preferred over aesthetic theming
• Value adding, e.g. logs than can be used as garden edging, casual seating and for balance play
• It should complement play provision in nearby playspaces
• Nature-based play, typically rocks, logs and plantings (sand and water play are limited to Regional or District playspaces due to high maintenance levels)
• Facilitate opportunities for social interaction
• Inclusive designs and wheelchair accessible path system
