In December 2023 we wrote to local residents and businesses outlining a proposal for parking restrictions to help relieve some pressure placed on the streets by the opening of Derrimut 24/7 Gym at 1686 Dandenong Road.

We received feedback which was mostly positive and accepting of the proposal. Based on some of the responses, we have decided to slightly modify our plan.

Changes to implement

The main change to parking restrictions in the local area will be the provision of two (2) new restrictions, placed on both sides of each street. The proposed restrictions are ½P, 8am-10pm and 1½P, 8am-8pm on most streets with the below exceptions following resident feedback. Cars displaying a valid Residential Parking Permit will be able to park longer in these areas.

Changes to the previous plan following feedback from residents and businesses are:

  • The northern side of Bonham Crescent and a section of the west side of Kennaugh Street, just north of Black Street, is to remain unrestricted.
  • The small section of Bonham Crescent west of Greta Street, the north side of Black Street near Kennaugh Street, and the west side of Kennaugh Street, just south of Dandenong Road, are to be ½P instead of 1½P.

We anticipate these restrictions be rolled out within 2-4 weeks.

See a map of the adjusted changes being introduced.

Have Your Say

Council is inviting ongoing feedback on the new restrictions to help us measure the impact and effectiveness of these parking controls. To do this, please use the feedback form at the bottom of this page.

This will be open for a three-month period following the installation of the new parking restriction signs, closing on 1 June 2024.

How to obtain a Residential Parking Permit

Residents and their visitors must display a residential parking permit in their vehicle to park in the ½P or 1½P areas all day.

Council’s Residential Parking Permit Scheme generally allows single dwelling sites to have up to three (3) permits. The scheme also allows one (1) permit per property in 2-4 dwelling sites, the older 5 dwelling sites (pre-1995) and 5-6 dwellings across a two-house site. The permits are not restricted to an individual car.
