Construction starts on dog off-leash enhancements

6 January 2025

We are excited to announce that work will commence on dog off-leash enhancements at Mount Waverley Linear Reserve on Monday 13 January 2025. For the safety of our community, temporary fencing will be installed around the construction areas. However, the rest of the reserve will remain open and accessible.

Upgrade highlights:

  • Dog enrichment elements: log clusters and clamber mound equipment
  • Additional seating: more seating options throughout the reserve
  • Safety fencing and gates along the busy Waverley Road frontage
  • Bollard and double-tube fences at Heany Street car park and Mclochlan Street entrances
  • Barrier planting and landscape barriers to create informal barriers along other entries
  • Additional drink fountains with dog bowls
  • Additional bins for waste disposal
  • Waste bag dispensers
  • New signage including dog etiquette guidelines.

Contractors will access the site via the Heany Street car park, which may cause minor traffic disruptions. Traffic control measures will be in place as needed to escort trucks safely.

We anticipate that these works will be completed by the end of March 2025.

These upgrades are part of Round 1 funding of the Victorian Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks program, which aims to enhance the state's open space network. This initiative ensures that Victorians have easy access to green spaces where they can exercise, relax, and enjoy the outdoors with their dogs.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our community spaces.
