Project update

We are building a new modern, modular pavilion at Brandon Park Reserve in Glen Waverley that will make better use of the reserve's space for players, teams, visitors and community members.

Following community engagement earlier this year in February, we're excited to progress this project with site works due to start in early August 2025, and completion anticipated by May 2026.

With the support of the Victorian Government, we'll replace the current pavilion with a new facility that features spacious interiors, four modern change rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, umpires and first aid rooms and external storage.

This will not only benefit local tenant clubs and promote more participation in local sport, it also makes better use of the space for volunteers and club organisers. A tiered spectator viewing area will also create an enjoyable environment where supporters and residents can relax, with a reconfigured car park ensuring no net loss of parking spaces at the reserve.

You can view the 3D design renders and floor plan below, or download from our 'document library'.

Where and when is it happening?

The new pavilion will be delivered and installed at the northern end of the car park next to the playground, with the current pavilion to remain in use until the new facility is completed.

Key project milestones include:

  • August 2025 - January 2026: New pavilion construction
  • January - February 2026: Demolition of the existing pavilion
  • January - May 2026: New car park construction

We are using modular construction, which means the facility is built off site in sections and then craned into position on site, limiting the disruption to the community. There may be some days of greater activity at the reserve when the building is craned in, as well as during demolition of the existing pavilion.

To enable construction, five trees will be removed under the supervision of Council’s Horticulture team. Offset planting will take place along the residential boundary and around the new car park to enhance natural screening and promote biodiversity.

Access and temporary parking changes:

  • The northern car park will be closed during the entire project. Signage will be in place to redirect traffic.
  • The southern car park will remain open for use.
  • The pathway between the current pavilion and playground will fall within the construction zone. Temporary pedestrian access and clear signage will ensure safe navigation for visitors and community members.

Background

Earlier this year, we consulted with the local community on a new Brandon Park Reserve pavilion to better facilitate community sport.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback.

We have summarised the feedback and Council's responses in our community feedback report.

The pavilion development is supported by the Victorian Government’s Community Sport and Recreation Projects program.
