Overview
Monash City Council’s Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) study has been used in many areas previously, to undertake an area-wide approach to provide safe and liveable neighbourhoods.
The Hughesdale suburb bounded by Poath Road, Dandenong Road, Warrigal Road and North Road has been endorsed by Council for an LATM study in 2021/22.
While controlling vehicle speed is a major consideration in the LATM study, the study also provides new opportunities to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety and amenity through improved streetscapes, landscaping and parking management.
Engagement with the community forms the most important part of the LATM study. The community are best placed to identify the issues and needs in their neighbourhood, and are vital in shaping the final outcome.
The recommended treatments proposed by a LATM study, known as a LATM scheme, will then be delivered subject to Council adoption and funding availability.
Focus Group
The Focus group provides an opportunity for detailed community input into the development of the Hughesdale LATM. The focus group will consist of Ward Councillors, Council Officers, Traffic Engineering Consultants and community participants (typically 5-10 people).
Council has appointed community participants on the focus group from nominations received.
